Boogie AED / Street Artist
Boogie was born in Padua in 1971. He began painting with spray paint in 1989, although his interest in the New York hip hop scene began in the early 1980s with a fascination for music videos and the magazines which showcased graffiti art. In the 1990s he joined the Bologna FCE and decided to set up a Crew Padovana EAD (Esquela Antigua Disciples) with friends who shared his passion for this culture.
His style took a number of directions (wild style, simple style, blockbuster, figurative, puppet and character), and he experimented with colour in various ways, from flat fields to shading intersecting with decorative games and others creating 3D or graphic effects within their letters, making them always recognisable and centre stage.
His experimentation with real size in space led to him trying his hand at set design, working for a number of important fashion brands and venues in Italy and abroad. In 1998 he won the Smau, Milan, creativity prize from Canon and designed sets for the Casino Royale concert tour in 2000. He has taken part in a great many exhibitions including a collective focusing on street art culture, Urbanizeme Exhibition (Padua, 2011), whose historic section documented Padua’s importance in the Italian street and urban art scenes, alongside Bologna and Milan, for the first time.

Theme Changes
Colour filters transforming lines into geometries.
Transparent points and shading conjuring up Murano glass and the lights of the Venetian lagoon.
The result of all these concepts together is apparent visual chaos concealing the strict rules of geometric construction and generating energy made visible via sight and perceptible by the body.
And this ‘wall’ of colour, ‘which walls away so much of that last horizon from my sight’, becomes a gateway to an unknown and attractive elsewhere, a sea of colours in which drowning is sweet.
